General Manger of the Sudanese Company for Electricity Transformation Eng. Hassan Omer El Sheikh confirmed conclusion of towers’ installation by 100 per cent in addition to construction of towers by 96 per cent pertaining to the project of electrical linkage between by Sudan and Egypt. He stated to press that implementation of the project at the Egyptian side has got on civil operations phase, expecting that the project would be achieved by the end of December 2018, according to the agreement signed by the two countries.
“The project will facilitate transformation of 300 megawatt,” says El Sheikh, adding that the researches carried by joint committees from both countries calculate that the capacity will range 500 megawatt in the future. El Sheikh clarified that the project aims at taking advantages of surplus electrical production in the two countries to boost economic exchange between the two countries as well as stabilizing electricity supply in Sudan and Egypt. According to El Sheikh, the total share allocated by Sudan for the project exceeds 20 million USD. The project is made of 22o Kilo-Fault transformative cable that is 69 kilometers long in Sudan, 100 kilometers long in Egypt extending from Halfa station in Sudan to Toshki 2 station in Egypt.
El Sheikh further pointed out that the technical committees from the two countries recommended identification the transformative capacity as soon as the linkage is complete.
